My music

Composing and performing music has always been a big part of me. Take a look at my artists projects on this page.

Indonesian meets pop music

At the moment I’m exploring my Indo-European roots. By combining traditional Indonesian gamelan with pop music, I strive to create a sound that represents both sides of me. My love for voice, electronic music and lyrics will be melted together with my Saron (a gamelan instrument) custom made for me in Yogyakarta, Indonesia,

In my blog (in Dutch) I will keep you posted on my journey of discovering my roots.

Saron Sessions

On my trip to Indonesia I fell in love with the saron, a traditional Indonesian gamelan instrument. Usually this wooden‑and‑bronze instrument is part of a larger gamelan ensemble, but I’m experimenting with new ways of playing it, using effects to enrich its tone, adding vocals, incorporating electronic instruments, and improvising. Saron Sessions are listening experiences that let you drift away on the sounds of the saron. Whether you’re sitting or lying down, anything goes.

Goldchild

Experimental pop

Goldchild is a type of ivy that likes to hide in the shade and cannot endure direct sunlight. It grows extremely fast, can climb real high and it clings to every surface it touches. It is no coincidence that this is the name of my solo project. I mostly describe myself as an introvert and I try to avoid being at the center of attention. Meanwhile I am ambitious and I’ll keep on growing and climbing in the shade.

My debut EP, 'It’s Only Me,' was entirely written, recorded, and produced in my own studio with no outside interference. Every song features only my voice as the source material, manipulated with effects to create unique sounds. The result is 5 tracks that are playful and melancholic, experimental and catchy, with an occasional electronic feel.

Live videos

Recorded, filmed and performed by Goldchild at Studio Apparatus. Mixed by Erwin Tuijl.

I’m always looking for the balance between nature and the artificial, so my photographs of natural elements are artificially processed to depict something that is not possible in the real world.

Pocket Knife Army - Glamelectro duo

POCKET KNIFE ARMY PUTS THE GLAMOUR INTO ELECTRO POP MUSIC

Flashing lights, a kaleidoscope of bright colors and sounds, with two masked figures in the center. The nocturnal scene’s glamorous underdog, Pocket Knife Army, tells their story about alter egos, media overload and 21st century paranoia dressed in a glitter coat and platform shoes.

Their high energy Glamelectro blurs lines between musical norms and transcends genre boundaries, underpinning Daisy Rae’s confessional lyrics and expressive vocal delivery with larger-than-life synthpop and spiky electro jams.

My part in this project:

Songwriting, recording, producing, performing live, artist branding, marketing and promotion.
